Sylvia Sham

Photo: Sylvia ShamSylvia has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Kennesaw State University. Since 1999, she has worked as a freelance court interpreter and medical interpreter. As a registered court interpreter in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), she primarily serves the federal court, superior court, state court of many metropolitan Atlanta counties.

Sylvia has been raised to be very assimilated. For Sylvia, assimilation is being able to deal with the U.S. diversity culture and hold on to aspects of her own Chinese culture.

Sylvia is the co-founder, the current executive director and the news/website editor of the Chinese American Cultural Performing Group (CACPG) which is a state registered non-profit Chinese performing arts organization. In addition, Sylvia has held a volunteer role since 1999

As the Chinese captain for the Asian Cultural Experience (ACE) which is one of the largest Asian community presentation festivals in the southeast United States.

Sylvia became an AAIT board director last year. She sees her organizational skills and volunteering as a strength that she can bring to the AAIT Board. She would like to see more diversity in AAIT and to contribute to the professional enhancement of all AAIT members.
